About Us
On December 23, 1977 in Seattle Washington, OMS Productions, headed by Oral M Sledge, held it's first showcase of talent. Seattle Showcase was born! Showcase locations that soon followed were, The Top of the Hilton, Seattle Center Playhouse, The Place Nightclub, Bellevue Community College Theater including audition opportunities for Greg Thompson's Follies of the 1980's at Seattle's Fifth Avenue Theater.
Among the numerous artists that have performed at various locations over the years one group that found almost immediate success, was local band called "Cold Bold and Together," CBT for short. In this group one of the featured artists was a little know saxophone player named Kenny Georlick. Despite many attempts to get a record deal they had no success. After being involved in Seattle Showcase the group not only was in high demand locally but visiting artists such a s James Brown and BB King requested the services of the young sax player and soon Kenny G emerged on the global scene with his debut album featuring the his song "Songbird". As the founder searched for more talent to showcase success rained on the many other acts that happened to be involved in Seattle Showcase.
Drake Sather, comic performer and talented writer, became famous as the writer of "ZOOLANDER" staring Ben Stiller and Will Ferrell, a headliner at "The Comedy Store in Los Angeles, writer for the Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson as well as the producer of the short lived NBC Television series "Ed" after being showcased by us.
Los Boys dance troupe continued and worldwide tour performing on cruise ships. Rod Long, Jeff Dittebrandt, Mary Shickling-Young, Mick Ackin, Chris Alpine, Joe Bell and many other have all shared the stage with Oral Sledge as a performer and participant in the talent showcases. Rod Long has been able to finance his children's college educations based on his comedy careers revenue. The list continues to grow but the most exciting part is...the door is now open for YOU!
